If you’re working for an umbrella company for the first time, you’ll notice that your pay documents contain more information than you’re used to seeing as a conventional employee. It’s important that you understand your pay, so in this article we’ll take a close look at your Orange Genie pay documents and what they mean.

We want your pay documents to be as easy as possible to follow, and to that end we provide two separate documents each time we pay you.
Both documents will be available to download from the Your Pay and Pensions section of your Orange Genie Edge portal.
The payment calculation shows you how we arrive at your taxable pay.
We receive assignment income paid by the agency for the work you’ve done.
We calculate the costs of employing you, including your Holiday Pay and Workplace Pension contributions, Employer’s National Insurance and the Apprenticeship Levy.
These costs are deducted from the assignment income, along with the small margin we make.
The balance of the sum becomes your taxable pay for the period.
It’s paid to you as National Minimum/Living Wage for the hours you’ve worked and the balance as a profit share.

The figures in the last section of your payment calculation correspond to figures you’ll see on your payslip.
The payslip shows how your net pay/take home pay is calculated from the taxable pay figure referred to earlier.
It’s a standard payslip format showing year to date information, earnings and deductions alongside the period the payment relates to, the number of hours worked and your personal information.

Our Contractor Support Team is available Monday to Friday from 9am to 5:30pm and to 7pm on Wednesdays and Thursdays. If have questions about your payslip or if we can help in any way, please call them on 01296 489242 .
